Like the title says I just ordered myself a new laser. A much more powerful laser then my previous laser ( Cute 250mw red laser) My only real question about this Rifle laser is the batteries.. I clicked the option to include the batteries and charger but I heard they are not the best option? I honestly dont know much about batteries I always get confused. This particular laser needs 2 16340 batteries correct? How are they different from my CR123a batteries I use in my other laser? And my last question is what batteries do you guys recommend me using in my Rifle laser when I get it. Should I stick with the ones that come with it or should I get some different ones. Links too if possible.. Thanks!

Hey guy with same name :)

16340 are the same as CR123a except CR123 usually refers to the non-rechargeable version.

Get AW IMR 16340 batteries. Found @ lighthound.com or PM me if you'd like a cheaper alternative ;)

I checked out those batteries and it says they are only 550mAh... On that same site there are some 880mAh CR123a rechargeable batteries by Ultafire. Wouldn't those be the better option?

No it wouldn't because Ultrafire lies :)

If you see any battery with xxxFire in the name, it means one of the following will happen:
1) Set on fire
2) Blow up in your face
3) Be dead on arrival
4) Works but is terribad

Stick with good cells or at least get Soshines, I've heard good things about them.

The best cells are AW IMR chemistries, which will give you the most power and consistency.

lol I agree. One of mine almost blew up yesterday and I was only pulling 1A from it! Maybe that was pushing it for an Ultrafire.

Ryanz27, about the mAh rating, 90% of Chinese companies will do nothing but lie about stuff that like, especially numbers. They will literally stick ANY number on there if it would make it sell more, the only reason it isn't higher is because the lie has to be believable...

It's a different planet over there when it comes to morals and ethics in business.

What do you guys think about Tenergy 3.2V 750mah LiFePo4 batteries? Would those be a good set up in my new Rifle 1W?

What kind of charger can I use with those batteries? The only charger I have is the Lifepo4 charger.

I thought the non-rechargeable 123's were only 3.0V whereas the rechargeable 16340's and other similar rechargeables were 3.6 to 3.7V?

Anybody else?

Glenn

I thought they all existed: non-rechargable 3.0V, non-rechargable 3.6V, rechargeable 3V, rechargeable 3.6V.

Hmmm, I thought Glenn was right but things may be different now.

I've changed my mind since yesterday on the best battery for the Rifle.
I thought I'd take a risk and get some AW IMR 18350 for my Laz Rifle. The 16340's tend to move around and personally I've have contact problems once in a while using them. A quick unscrew of the tailcap and screwing it back up tightly usually sorts it out so I thought I'd try batteries just a little longer.(and wider)
The 18350s only came today and so far I'm really happy with them. They fit the rifle host much better than the 16340s and are only 50mAh less in capacity.

There's two types of rechargeable lithium batteries.

LiFePo4 batteries are the safest ones. They are much more robust and can take abuse a lot better than standard lithiums, and there's a much lower risk of fires with them because the chemistry style is different.

The obvious downfall of these is that they have a max cell voltage of 3.2 volts.

Normal Lithiums have a full charge voltage of 4.2 volts, actually, not 3.7 volts.

Wow I didn't know LiFePo4's max voltage was 3.2V...
Do you know what its nominal voltage is?
