This is why you shouldn't point your lasers at Aircraft. Prime Example.

This low flying chopper argument is getting old. Considering the crime rate in LA/Hollywood its much more practical then ground based surveillance. They can scan commercial properties, assists ground patrols, and surveillance a much larger area cheaper and faster than ground patrols. The crime rate demands it. They dont have time to look at girls sunbathing. People feel safer because of them.

Watch any TV, movie, video games about LA. They are not exaggerating. Those nice houses you see that rich people own are all tucked away in well guarded gated communities, and hills. The city is a war zone.

There is no argument that aircraft do on occasion need to fly low. Refer to post #30.

That said, if helicopters are flying low in order to draw out retards with laser pointers, how exactly does that make sense as a law enforcement tactic, and why should those not committing any crimes be subjected to having to deal with noise?

Up next maybe the DEA should put piles of crack in low income neighborhoods, and arrest those that show up to try some?

Or maybe the ATF will sell guns to criminals... oh wait... ATF agents let guns be sold to Mexican cartels

Call it what you want, I call such actions entrapment. That's just my opinion though, and I don't wish to debate it ad nauseum.

Also bear in mind that cops do have a bit of a history with abuse of power. That's not just my opinion.

Lastly, since when are video games and movies a good source of information? Actual crime statistics do show that a lot of LA is apparently a crap hole, but come on... war zone? Hyperbole much:tinfoil:

A report in 2005 from the California Department of Justice reports 463 gangs with over 39,000 members reside in LA county. That was 5 years ago, and not including crack heads, junkies, petty thieves, and freelance racketeering. I dont think in the history of the world that 463 groups of people have ever fought over one piece of real estate as small as LA county. If thats not considered a war zone, I dont know what is. Although crime is declining, thanks to the efforts of law enforcement.

While true, I don't think you're taking into account the size of LA. It's the second largest metropolitan area in the US...

As such there are areas which are crime ridden, and others which are peaceful. Same as every other large metropolitan area, there are areas for the tourists, and there are areas it's best to avoid at night.

That does not by any means indicate that such an area is a "war zone."

If you follow your designation of war zone, purely based on on a small sample of statistics you might as well apply it to a whole lot of other cities and areas which are much worse off in terms of crime...

So would you consider Boston a war zone? Or how about New York?

Fact is, for all it's media produced bad rep, not all of LA is bad.

I think I'm just reading too much into your use of the term war zone. Imo, if you ever see a real war zone in person, you would not compare it to LA.

Getting back on track a bit... I think we do agree 100% that pointing lasers at aircraft is a bad idea :)

Dude you're acting like a little girl who keeps crying because she doesnt get her way, and needs to have the last word.

I love to argue but this petty pilgrimism you're on to make yourself look right, and that everyone else is wrong is childish. Let it go already, everyone else has.

I'm not arguing with you am I, in fact I was under the impression the argument was over?

I did come across an interesting video and thought I'd share it... did you actually watch it? It's a nice scene. Some of the stabbing action is a bit too fake, but overall, it's memorable.

What is childish is that after all this time you're still carrying a grudge over what idk, and neg repping me at every opportunity.

How about we stick to ignoring each other... if you can't do that because of poor impulse control, feel free to add me to your ignore list.

The only negative rep I see is in my profile. So I dont see why you need to lie.

I've been ignoring you, but you you keep inserting comments in threads I'm replying too.

Ahh wonderful, so now you're calling me a liar. So I suppose I hallucinated this huh?

I deleted the associated post since I consider a neg rep coming from you over simply posting a youtube video to be quite petty... but calling me a liar?

I didn't realize flat out lying was part of your trolling arsenal.

As for ignoring me... YOU started the freaking conversation. As usual.

AAh, so you admit deleting a post to remove neg rep. This is highly frowned upon here, and we've outed and banned quite a few members for doing this, doesnt matter the reason, or if you agreed with it. You dont see me deleting my posts, or crying to the admin whenever your mad that someone disagrees with you.

Its only opinions and internet points. How shallow do have to be to think these things really matter? Once again grow up, and learn to let things go.

I'm out. Everyone else can enjoy your rant.

Peace all.

I'm not hiding anything, nor did I lie. I thought a neg rep for posting a youtube clip was petty, so I deleted it.

Please anyone feel free to view the post right here: Link.

I just don't like seeing a bunch of red squares from you next to my name.

Speaking of petty behaviors, this is the 5th time you neg repped me... every time over matter of opinion as as opposed to facts.

And once again... YOU LIED in your accusation.

Faced with proof of your own lie you try to turn the tables again?

Troll fail.

AFP - Over 3,000 people were killed in South Sudan in brutal massacres last week in an explosion of ethnic violence that forced tens of thousands to flee, the top local official in the affected area said Friday.

“There have been mass killings, a massacre,” said Joshua Konyi, commissioner for Pibor county in Jonglei state.

“We have been out counting the bodies, and we calculate so far that 2,182 women and children were killed and 959 men died.”

United Nations and South Sudanese army officials have yet to confirm the death tolls and the claims from the remote region could not be independently verified.

If confirmed, the killings of 3,141 people would be the worst outbreak of ethnic violence ever seen in the fledgling nation, which split from Sudan in July.

A column of some 6,000 rampaging armed youths from the Lou Nuer tribe last week marched on the remote town of Pibor, home to the rival Murle people, whom they blame for abductions and cattle raiding and have vowed to exterminate.

The Lou Nuer gunmen attacked Pibor at the weekend, torching huts and looting a hospital, and only withdrew after government troops opened fire.

Over a thousand children are missing, feared abducted, while tens of thousands of cows were stolen, added Konyi, who comes from the Murle ethnic group.

Peace,
dave
