laser setup capable of being focused to 100-200 microns?

I was wondering what I would need for a basic laser that could be focused to around 100-200 microns? I know that it shouldn't be a problem in theory, but I'm not sure if I would need some kind of specialized focusing lens to focus a laser beam to that precision.

I was also wondering if a laser around 300mw would have any problem burning a hole around 100-200 microns through a thin sheet of plastic? or am I wrong to think that is even possible without very expensive equipment?

I am rather new to lasers and am still doing plenty of research but just wanted to get some specifics straight so I know what to research more closely.

Hey, well, any standard focusing lens will be able to get you there, but its a matter of finding the exact point. By focusing for close up work your beam will look like this: "><"

And yes a 300mW laser should be able to burn through a sheet of plastic, it just depends what colour the sheet is. A 300mW red would be your cheapest option but if you need to burn through lighter coloured materials a 405nm blu-ray will do the job :)

Thats difficult to say since we humans observe things that small optically. We're not all highly specialized scientists observing reflective beam patterns

But with a little mathematical calculation, it should be easy to calculate the optical requisites of such a beam size IN THEORY... if not we can go smaller.

Alright, yeah, smaller is not a problem, and I understand that calculations are based on perfect equipment and so I would be very lucky to produce the exact result theorized.
