I asked Jeff to build a laser I sourced bits for, he also made me a copper heatsink, the speed and comms were awesome. The host is still in perfect condition and the laser is build very well. I'm really happy with the work he's done. An image of the laser is below (I specifically asked for the 'raw' look so didn't want a piece to shroud the end with to focus the lense, but he did offer me lots of options for this)...

YES Jeff does great work and can be a great friend to all at LPF- BUT I do think an EZ
attachment to that lens will be a good idea and make the laser look better--
The copper will , in time, change color a bit and a focus adaptor will cover that and also make changing the focus easier-- are you in NJ?? maybe you ouht to add your location to you profile page so we dont have to guess- there are members near you- you may want to meet them and share ideas- or get your laser metered for free.

To many your laser does not look 'finished' w/o a focus piece-- good job all the same and a +3 from me..hak

Hi Hak,

Well I am actually from London, UK. I wanted it to look like it was built years ago, I love all the copper and brass from the industrial revolution times that was used, and wanted old meets new, with the stainless steel and laser. I know the copper will oxidise over time and that is what I want. Sounds silly probably but I think it's cool :)

OK- I guessed New Jersey as there is a city there by that name-- we have great members in the UK andthere is a big laser enthausist meeting (LEM) every year there called UKLEM- these are great events and once you attend one you will not want to miss another-

aside form the 'look' its common for the fingertips to get a little burnt when changing the focus-- maybe a member can make you a focus ring from copper..but we have to tell you- your laser does not look 'finished' as it is now. even early handheld builds are made with the lens nut threads not exposed-- a focus ring would also add a little protection to that lens-if yours got dropped the wrong way the lens sticking out like that could get damaged--maybe you can make your own from wood- that would give it a nice 'steam punk' look-- if you get a focus ring that was smaller you would still be able to see the copper heatsink-- Everybodies first build is special to them.. there is ONLY one first build.. maybe at the hardware store you can find a regular nut that matches the threads of your lens nut- that would look cool I think- & very 'industrial' as well.

When you make your intro thread in the welcome section perhaps a title like 'new member from London' will get your some greets and cheerz from others near you.
We also have a google 'members map' with the locations of hundreds of members marked- from all parts of the world.

we look forward to more builds and pics from you!!

:thanks::wave::beer::beer::beer:

Well to be a review it doesn't say much at all... nice laser ... but what is it? What wave lenght, what diode, what power, what driver...

I mean this "Review" looks like "I bought a laser and I like it" Try searching in the review section to see how a review should be.

I am currently on the hunt for some goggles, if anyone has any opinion of the below, I'd love to hear them...

one
two
three
four

Cheers.

This is exactly why I usually include a set of goggles with every laser I sell...

Congratulations on your new laser. Do get some goggles. Should you feel the need, get yourself a brass lamp knob for that lens barrel. Broken glass sucks!

Will do. What's a brass lamp knob, and do you think one of the four I suggested would be any good?

I haven't seen any of your submitted googles before. I have a pair of eagle pair, and a couple of Uvex. They all work very well..

Yep Jeff does great work and I am glad you like the items you got from me.

On the FMT do you have the base of the driver heatsinked?
