when i clicked reset password i got email with my username and password and my username on the email is "imported_Dr" it should be Dr.LaSeR :-?
then when i entred my password they cant login :-/
they marked me as a guest and there are no profile :eek:
then i registered again with the same username ,they didn't tell me thet username alredy used

Looks like a forum to me ;) I won't register there at the moment, just as long as I don't get left behind when you turn the lights out here..... though I usually have a laser in my pocket ::)

I just checked out the new forum test site....Is it just me...
or is it supposed to look like the PL Forum site... :-?

drlaser, i think the trouble with your account was b/c your username has the period in it and vB didnt like that

lasersbee, i am using the default vB layout right now. this is just the test site and the live site woln't have this layout. i am looking to hire a vB developer for an awesome custom layout

the custom layout will probably have shades of deep blue, and dark gray. the priority is to first make sure the vB forum functions as it should and that the data integrity is there. the layout will be once of the last things tested.


i am starting a new job next week and have been quite busy but will have some time on the weekends to dedicate to the new site

I like this forum because of its simple layout, I don't like VB because it is more complex and jumbled up looking, I don't know if others feel this way, but I like it how it is, I hate to see it change.

:-/


P.S. I'm also waiting on the email.

The main reason I am looking to switch over is that YaBB uses a flatfile system to store the data instead of a database. This is the main reason we really need to switch over. The forum is out growing a flat file forum system.

I agree a simple layout is a lot better and will strive for this in the new vB layout. It is very easy for vB to get to cluttered and I will keep it as simple as possible.

Realistically I don't think we would be switching over for at least a month since I still need to hire someone to make a super layout for the site.

I appreciate all of the feedback.

Yeah there is no doubt that vB can look really slick with a nice design. I have seem some outstanding designs and awful designs.

Right now remember the test vB forum is using the default layout from vBulletin, which is nothing special.

I could just download a template, but I want a custom design that is totally awesome for everyone, and not just a template that other sites use as well.

I simply don't have enough time to design a custom template right now, and I am not a great with graphics/etc. That is why I want to hire someone to help out with this. I have contacted a friend that is very talented but I am waiting to here back from them as they are very busy.

Well, calender, community groups, and multi pms work good, how long till you switch? also, i sent you invite to a community group c0ld, i posted some things that need to be done, although i dont know if you already no that they do, that i dont feel like reposting, too much work posting in 2-3 places. ;) :D

i needed to erase the entire current import. the problem was i didn't have enough disk space to do a backup b/c of the new sql database and this forum combined.

however, i got the 2 layouts working

the plan is there will be a dark layout, thx to drlaser, and the default white layout, thanks to Rolf (curiously coherent) for the awesome banner image.


so the plan is after i do some more backups i will do another fresh import for round 2 of testing.

in the meantime im leaving the test site in maintenance mode. will talk soon

to view the 2 layouts there is an option on bottom left of the new forum where you can choose the layout you want

Is this going to turn into the final forum? Because it won't take my Email adress no matter what I do, and I don't want to make a new account. :'(
