Maybe lots of them got new computers and/or email address. I suppose there could be an automated system that could send members with little activity over a period of 3 months or something an email requesting response if they are interested in remaining a member. Something like: LPF has noticed little to no activity from you and you have been missing out! Are you still interested in being a member? LPF wishes to inform you that LPF has considered the cancellation of your registration, but don't worry! You can always re-register!

I don't know, perhaps it doesn't matter anyway. It just might not be worth it to consider it, and that might be the reason why members have a record of their amount of posts for us to personally decipher who's real and who's not. I don't think it’s a big deal. Besides, you never know when you might need to go back and view the history of certain members. - Just my thoughts.

I would post but I'm not allowed to insert link into message.
It's not easy to share knowledge without pictures, schematics, datasheets...
Have I missed something?

You need to have at least 20 posts to be allowed to post links.

I thought they dropped it to ten posts a while ago, why is it back to 20 again?

it may be annoying to have these post limits but it does a great job of killing off spammers

c0ld, I suggest you slightly change the captcha on registration so spam bots can't read it.

Hey i just thought of something super simple to get rid of about 90% of the spam bots..... You know those letters and numbers on sights that you must fill in to make an account, why not do that here.. it would keep almost all spam bots from being able to make an account while still allowing normal people too.

Like this...

Fill in what is written in the caption ______ D79r2Ia

but make it a picture so the bots cant understand it.

...lazer... ;D ;D ;D

Yeah, it's called a captcha as Spyro said, but it needs to be a picture. One thing i hate when sigining up to a forum is a captcha that i can barely understand, it just has to be a pic with numbers in it.

erm.
the captcha should be PROGRAMMED (coded)

if not, then it would always be the same image, a spammer that wanted to spam here would just copy the code into its bot and w00t....u got spam to enjoy :D

noooo....

a captcha is a picture. bots see it as a picture, and cannot read it. therefore they cannot enter whats in the picture. humans can read whats in the picture. so they can pass.

a captcha is used to stop spam bots from joining....

LOL I KNOW,

what i was trying to say is that the picture should be random and not the same picture ALWAYS. that's why i said it should be programmed, as i dont think any website creates 30043304932042304329049023 pictures for spam bots not to register.
