that was freaking awesome

i'd like to see electrostatic levitation  ::)

That requires high frequency DC, neon sign transformers output low frequency AC, so while it would fly, when the AC changed "polarity" (In his case, I think its 60 times a second!), It would propell itself down. So in other words, it wouldnt work. You could try rectify the NST (Lots and lots and lots of diode strings), but even then it works better with high frequency.

LOL Wouldnt wanna get in the way of that stun gun! 110ma is enough to sizzle your blood!

Thats probably more like a oil burner ignition transformer, they are commonly around 1-6kV. Or a very small neon sign transformer, I havent seen them in 3.5kV b4.

THis makes me wanna go back down to the neon sign shop and grab 1 or 2 more [smiley=evil.gif] [smiley=evil.gif] [smiley=evil.gif]

My only NST is @ school right now :(

6mA is enough to kill you. ;) However, the current must flow through your heart. If your hand gets shocked you most likely live but it will knock you on your ass for sure!

If you got hit by just one of those NST, 30ma, your chances of dying isnt very likely, though it hurts like #@$%!!!!!!!!!!!

though 2 in parallel, is getting very dangerous!

It depends how you get electrocuted. One hand on each electrode and you well die!

yeah thats true also. Just dont hold an electrode in each hand, place them over your heart, or stand barefooted on the ground when you do it and its alot less unlikey :p

Whenever I'm messing with my HV stuff I wear shoes and I like to keep one hand in my pocket or out of the way. If you do this you are making sure that your body isn't a good path to ground and you greatly reduce the chance of a direct hit through your heart. Even a relatively weak 3kv NST can kill you if you are holding one of the electrodes in each hand and it goes straight through your heart. The only thing I've been shocked by was a DC flyback with a cap built into it. I had it turned off and then accidentally touched one of the wires on it before making sure it was discharged. It didn't hurt that much, but I got a shocking jolt from it and my arm went numb for a few seconds.

Very nice! Pole transformers scare me, I don;t really want one TBH, they are just tooo evil for me :-/

I saw one on the side of the road the other day next to the pole, the thing was fucken huge tho, no way you could move it.

NST's work for me fine thx.

Now that you have told me you have a pole transformer, wheres some action pix? :D

Actually, I had a MOT, and I did breifly hook it up to see the arc, tho it started melting pits in the transformer core instantly, so quickly decided to remove the secondary. During that process, I have hit the primary, so now I have a huge paperweight :(
