Re: CNI GB Round 2: It is Time

Okay, I got the 532 prices. I also got updates to most of my questions.

1. We can get the removal of time delay if we want it. It is not a problem.
2. As long as the laser stays at or above its rated output power for 30-45seconds it is on spec. 30-45s has been stated as the duty cycle by Ava. Keep in mind this is conservative.

Thanks,
Isaac

Re: CNI GB Round 2: It is Time

I hate to seem stupid, but can someone explain the "Time Delay" function. Obviously there is a delay from the time you hit the on switch to the time the beam appears. How long is the delay? It seems from the comments posted in this thread people have mixed opinions on it. If we have the option to get a laser with or without it, it would be nice to know the pros and cons.
Thank you

Re: CNI GB Round 2: It is Time

After pressing the button, there is a 5 second delay in the driver. It is a safety feature, thats about it. It is nice to be able to not worry about the laser moving after you press the button since you can realign real quick. It is a full 5 seconds, so I always expect the beam a second or so before it appears.

That's about all its usefulness right there^

I personally can't stand it... I like my instant gratification. I've had 3 PGL-III-C's in my day, all of which had that delay taken OFF.

Did you get the 593.5nm prices?

That's the only thing she left out. I emailed her back yesterday but nothing yet. Maybe Monday.

Aye, alright. The price of that pretty much sets my limits. I have $210 in my PP (though I have things to sell to bring that up)

I'm not sure if I can sell another $150 of stuff in order to buy a pen laser, ya know?

Thanks for the explanation on the time delay. If we still have the choice when we order, I would not want that on my unit

Re: CNI GB Round 2: It is Time

Hey WBS will there be no 800 mW 532's this time?

Also would prefer without time delay. IMO its pretty retarded - anyone unaccustomed to the laser who gets hold of it, is likely to do what most people would do when realising something they had switched on isnt working...look into the hole...:tinfoil: Before anyone says anything about not letting others handle a laser without supervision etc...it can easily happen.

I can ask regarding the 800mW 532's but when I asked for all outputs that is what I got :/

Very true... that can be asking for trouble. I also would not want that function on my lasers

Re: CNI GB Round 2: It is Time

Good to know we can opt out of the delay. I agree it's stupid and makes the laser a lot more dangerous. If I press the button it's because I want to pump some photons right away :p

Did you get an answer to this one?
2. If 10pcs discount can be had if one or more of the lasers purchased is a different power of the same wavelength. Additionally if GLP's of the same wavelength can be discounted after the 10 orders have been reached.

As for the duty cycle, 30/45s seems very low for a host that big... kinda disappointed about this, I was hoping for 90s on or something. Anyone knows what we can realistically expect?

I also have two more questions - I think I know the answer to both (based on previous reviews and their website) but I'd like to have an "official" answer:

-Is the button a press-and-it-stays-pressed type or a temporary button?

-What battery does it take?

Thanks again!

Re: CNI GB Round 2: It is Time

PGL-III-C Lasers' buttons remain depressed. GLP's are momentary on.

I did ask regarding the wavelength form factor thing. Apparently as long as most are one output we can have a lower output and get the discount still. Also if we get 10 orders for PGL's of a wavelength, we can get 10pcs discount on GLP of same wavelength.
