could be a tri-mode self defense baton, high power laser blinding burning weapon, heavy impact baton, and giant batteries to throw if nothing else works! :crackup:

I am thinking the same.. With that new diode and the copper sink etc would equal about $800-1000? Going on the quoted $400 price for the diode.. But i am game, especially if it means having one of the first 5W+ red handhelds!!
Also, congratulations on the 445! That is the most beastly thing I have ever seen!

Keep in mind the 5W diode is a C mount not a "normal" package like we are all used to, not to mention the FAC mentioned in the original post. Would take quite a bit more work getting something like that in a handheld. Not to mention impractical due to the long focal length lens in a handheld.
