so tonight i went ahead and made a little lab style blue ray 405nm laser.
im building it for a friend and thought i would share the process

well i haven't received the flexmod1 driver from dr lava yet but i did hook up one of my other drivers i had (no modulation) and gave her a test run...

things are looking great. i have had it on constantly since 9:45 (its been over two hours) and the diode isnt even warm with that heat sink.

i will also be turning it up a little higher once i get dr lavas driver.

also i couldnt help it so i did a few unblanked scans :)

well i will let the pictures do the talking...

(there is absolutely no fog in any of these pictures.)

1. press diode pressed into module

2. soldered wires to diode (and put shrink wrap on them)

3. put end cap on module and epoxy on the end to keep the wires from twisting or moving

4. fit module into heat sink and tighten the little set screw ont he bottom

(i will add more once i get my flexmod1 driver)

here are some shots of it.

Love the pictures but I seem to see only a little of each.

Red is hot but blue is super :D

quick general question.
Is there anywhere that you can get a lab-style heatsink alone or jsut a very cheap one?
rather than pay 30 or 40 dollars for a module you're not gonna use anyway...

You have to scroll down to "green laser modules" and click.  The heat sinks are on the next page.  I can't seem to isolate the URL for the heat sink alone.  Sorry

Peace,

Does that fit aixiz modules?
it doesn't list the dimensions...
