I took this laser out of the laser assembly of an old broken chop saw (Miter saw) the assembly was basically an oversized washer on the retaining bolt for the blade. I cannot find any information about the laser diode/host inside.:tired::can:

Some information is printed on the host in black paint. It has a logo with two S's inside of overlapping circles like this (S()S) but the top and bottom is missing in this text representation. and "0309"

I want to try and open the host it looks like the output side with the prism is a cap that can be removed or maybe turned to adjust the beam. So before I destroy it i thought i would ask here....is anyone familiar with this type of diode/host? Will I destroy the laser if I try and remove the cap or prism?

Here are some pictures of the host and the red dot from 1 and 5 meters

:anyone: :thanks:

:anyone: ?

couple more questions. Is it common that these type of laser housings use the casing as the positive connection? is there a tiny circuit board inside? Don't want to destroy the thing just yet so for now I think I'll just try to take off the prism and play with some other lenses for it.

It's probably just a regular ol' red laser diode with a line-generating optic on the front to create a line. I doubt that there is anything special about it other than the housing that was made to fit into the saw, and maybe that line-generating optic.

Agree with Bionic. Done mess with any adjustments or you will kill it.
