That is an infamous picture that has been circulating on the web for quite a while. I do not know why it got so popular. Maybe some popular board like offtopic.com did something with it, who knows. I burnt my CCD , but its not noticeable on my phone, its only noticeable sometimes on the computer .
But nice laser ! I want a BR

How did you guys damage the camera ccd's? Ive been trying to do long exposures of my ~30mw green laser, but I definitely dont want to damage the camera. Did you just accidentally get the beam reflected in there? Did you point it into the lens for a picture? I am just wondering how much laser light exposure will harm it. If a quick reflection into the lens will damage it, I wont use my camera on it anymore. I think im safe just taking beam pictures into the sky with just a maybe 30mw or so green laser. Any risk from a laser like that without directing it straight into the lens?

Your laser will be fine, mines got damaged because I knocked my camera directly into the beam of my 30mW green and didnt notice for about 5 seconds because I wasn't looking, but quick reflections wont do any damage if its only 30mW, and also if you buy some smoke spray or something and use night mode you wont need long exposures for beam shots.
thats my underpowered ( using 3V bats instead of 3.6V ) 30mW romisen with only spray smoke ( and I didnt even use night mode there )

Well, thats a relief, I dont want to wreck my camera. Those beam shots are awesome though. I need to put a smoke machine on my shopping list along with more lasers and safety glasses.

I didnt have enough cash for a smoke machine, but I got smoke spray for £5 that does well, and its quite fine, if you do get a smoke machine, get a small one, as you wont need a huge one to fill a small room, just a few puffs will do . ;D

- RPL-165 ( hopefully I can get it second hand a bit cheaper from psuedo if he tests one )
- Smoke Machine
- BR laser/Red Burner (Maybe dilda)
- some more lab style lasers from DX for a laser spirograph.
- More heatsinks ( I can get these free from computers, and they have fans )
