Got my box of drives in yesterday, already got one taken apart and installed into a module - these diodes are amazing :D

red meter is current, yellow meter is output power (in mW)

So thats 90mA if i understood correctly? I'm actually gonna build a laser from one of these sleds, so what is a safe current to run it at?

yes i was driving it at 90mA, i'd say 75-90mA is probably good, but TBH i don't really know :p

Nice video! You don't see many blu-ray laser tunnels....

Does it get hot after a short while?

thanks :)

since the diode is only in an axiz module right now it does get hot pretty quickly so i limit it to very short duty cycles (will be 100% once i get it installed in a proper heatsink)

Re: 85+mW 803t HDDVD Diode Match Light + Timetunne

Do you know where i can get custom made heatsinks? I am going to run mine at 80mA or 90mA, probably 80. Do you think 90mA is a safe current?

You didn't even need to focus the beam to light a match?! No way!

It looks focused to me ::) How much power would 60-65mA give? Does anyone have datasheets for these yet? :-/

what kind of videos are you people posting? I can't seem to see the majority of the embedded ones.
