Question's concerning Jetlasers Yamataka series.

Sorry not at the moment. I'm having a issue with mine also . Need to email JL about. When I have a wide beam I have a black/dark center., don't know if that's normal?

Does it look like the dot labeled 01* in this image?

the smallest point in the extreme left position. I'm not sure that this is infinity. but I can not focus closer to the lens.

Really confusing thread now talking about apples and oranges as if they were the same thing -- like it isn't crazy enough on LPF already

The dot starts off looking like 00, it is a nice solid round dot. But when you defocus it ( as in the Dazzler mode). On a normal laser when you defocus it, you see the dot enlarging, than you see bits of dust which get larger as you defocus. On my Yamataka when you defocus it, it looks a little like 01 but the dark line much larger. Imagine a bar maybe 1/5 the size of the defocused area dividing the defocused area in complete two halfs. (the bar is not straight, it's on a angle). When you refocus the laser it goes back to a nice dot. Don't think this is suppose it be this way. Need to contact JL about this.

Should be a dot at all times just bigger or smaller depend on where you have the sliding push/pull collar and a dazzler dot when smallest whch is larger than a PL-E Pro or PL-E Mini dot if it is a 532nm nm dazzler

If it is a 1W 520nm diode you are going to get the typical bar and just not see it when focused small because the 520 diode emits a bar shaped beam, so it may be as good as it gets--normal just like the rectangular output of many other laser diodes.

All other makers only offer 532nm dazzlers. Brightest is one of the reasons and even power distribution over a round area is another. Calculated dazzle distances and real dazzle easily calculated.

As I re-edited my comments the "bar" doesn't look like the picture of an 01. It's hard to explain, tried to, when I edited my comments to make them easier to understand. It is a 520nm @ 600mw's so maybe it is just the line magnified so many times, (in my opinion it doesn't look like the picture) . I will try to post a picture of it the first of next week when I get some time. After I post the pictures let me know your thoughts, it might just be the way the diode's built? :thanks:

Diachi's picture only applies to a gaussian beam DPSS 532nm ---so it would not be any of those if 520m,

Are you sure it is a 600mW 520 diode Yamataka---they only offer 600mW in a 532nm and list 520nm as 700mW to 1W now but in the past listed 520nm only as 1W? an back in post #29 you said you were ordering a 1W 520 Yamataka in a week and that was the only way they were offered at the time.
At lower output the 1W 520nm diode might have a less pronounced bar/rectangular shape but there is no other diode in the dazzlers power range.
Did you LPM it?

Sorry, you are correct, I ordered the 532 @ 600 mw's in the pistol Dazzler and the 1watt 520 in the Yamataka dazzler. Got them switched in my brain.

No I havn't LPM'd yet. Let me post some pics and let me know your thoughts.

OK. You had me shaking my head there for a moment because I remembered you writing about ordering a 1W 520 so I looked back to find the post/reference.

Pictures would be much better --email them to Gray with any questions you have as well.

So far what you have described is probably normal for a 1W 520mW dazzler.
