Hello my name is Dan and I am quite new to this forum. I am really interested in these lasers. I have about 140 or so $ budget, if some one can redirect me to something really powerful (Burns paper, skin, ect.) that would be great! Thank you.

Okay.

You can find a lot of good deals in the B/S/T section that can be found HERE. What wavelength (colour) are you looking for specifically? You can get a lot of good lasers for great prices from Lazerer. I assume you already know the laser safety rules? If not have a read around this forum before going near any lasers that can burn things. Also buy some goggles from HERE that correspond to what wavelength you're getting :)

No. Burning skin is not very nice you know, let alone your eyes. Go grab a $5 eBay laser instead.

I wouldn't be getting the heaviest duty green laser for what seems to be your first laser. I'd keep it under 500mW if I were you

you seem too eager to be solely destructive with lasers, that is why a FORUM MODERATOR (these guys run this place, meaning they can give you the boot) responded with sarcasm. these devices deserve respect. As others suggested, educate yourself about the dangers and safety requirements associated with lasers first. Once you have cooled your jets a bit, I can recommend a 445nm (blue) 1000mW laser that costs just $110.

I wouldn't order from Lazerer, their Q.C. and customer service has taken a nose dive of late.

indeed this is true. shakenawake is right. We're glad you like lasers, thats why we assume you're here. but many lasers even of low power can be very dangerous if handled incorrectly, high powered ones can be very destructive, and over vast distances even, there is alot of craze going on over powerful ones, and how cool they can be, but frankly, they should be treated with the same respect a firearm recieves. in some/many places lasers over even a single milliwatt can be considered illegal to use in public. some can even get you arrested. please think over carefully the responsibilities of owning such a powerful precision instrument, and how you can use it safely, not only for yourself, but others around you.

as for powerful lasers, you can find many in the buy and sell and trade section of this forum, but make sure you have proper safety equipment first. shining a 1 watt laser on the wall can be blinding to your bare eyes. greens and yellows can even be dangerous to your eyes at lower levels due to your eye being more receptive to them. even 150mW green can leave you flashblinded by staring at the "dot" for even a second or less.

would you please inform me what is precision with them?

I do suppose it depends on the laser. Some are more complex than others but the point of them being dangerous still stands...

Kindly correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't many people consider them as such? I certainly do.

I suppose any laser that still lases is a precision device, it just sounded sort of strange to be adding precision along with other words in warning.
