Hi, I want to pot mod my DX true green, but I can't pull the module out like styropyro shows in this video. Would heating it help? I only managed to scratch the silver cap.

Take a hammer, and smash the cap off. Since you're already going to kill it, that's the best way!

Or a hacksaw

This thread might have helped before all the pics died.

Looks like you typical comparator circuit. Drive transistor on the top, 1ohm sense resistor, lm358 op amp...

You can change the sense resistor or the divider resistors or perhaps the voltage reference. LOTS more trouble than it's worth.

At the risk of seeming like I am trying to run things around here, ;) why not put together (or link to an old one) and just tell people that, "Hey, it is probably going to kill your laser, but here is the link?"

Wouldn't it be easier than antagonizing every new kid that comes on here trying to pot mod his $4 green laser?

If no one likes that idea, then that is ok with me cause I'm NOT really trying to run things around here. But I thought that I would throw it out there.

All you need to do is turn the pot until it gets brighter, and then keep turning it until it burns out.

If it has a pot. Otherwise there may be a resistor/s that need wiping or changing.
