I'm young (15) and lasers just fascinate me.
I own a 200mw green laser pointer that I purchased a few months ago from lazerpoint.com

I was looking to learn about the lasers. Get more information about them. I know what they're capable of as far as burning things but I'd like to learn more like good, reliable websites to purchase from and how much theyll likely cost.

No, I'm not a stupid kid with my laser. I don't point it at people or airplanes, I only use it to light matches and shine across fields and things.

Thanks for any help guys!

If you only want 200mW blue I would go for the single mode PL450 diode. It has the same blue color as the 445nm M140 diode but with much better beam/dot profile.

And make a thread about yourself in the intro section. Thanks !

Please, if you don't already have a pair of proper safety glasses (goggles), make that your first purchase!

BTW - Welcome, and please introduce yourself in the welcome section. :yh:

Thanks for the help @blord. I have a question about the diode. How is that a laser pointer like so you have to build it from the diode? Also, how much and where should I buy it from. I'm looking to have a pointer mainly. Thanks again.

Are you looking for a penlaser or something larger like the C6 laser ?
There are enough penlasers for sale in the fleebay.

Welcome to the forum, duh101. You will likely have a hard time getting members to sell to you because of your age. You might find your best options are the more reliable companies that have been reviewed already on the forum.

Use your search bar at the top of each page, or go over to the "Companies" section of the forum, and do your homework there.

If you want it focusable, the cheapest would be to go for the C6 and build it yourself (or ask a member to), another good option would be this.

Pen lasers can be focusable but aren't necessarily easy to buy focusable, so you'll need to get it built and those are hard builds. Plus the Ebay 450nm pens usually put out the 60-120mW range from my experience.

@zraffleticket would you mind explaining what the C6 is for me?

And @scumbagatheist Well I can't change that. I can be mature like you guys but idk if that will change anything. Are there any users you might recommend to build a laser for me?

Ok @scumbagatheist. I'm thinking about purchasing a 1W blue laser from lazerer.com. Do I need to buy any more special glasses for it?

You would need safety goggles for 440nm-450nm ish at at least OD 3+
