Well, I have a pocket mini with a SF-AW210 diode (off course equipped with a JayRob 405-G-1 lens) having an output of 268mW. Properly focused, it burns white paper for sure :tinfoil:....see:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBS8jcLWyp4

I'm sure that the 8x must be outstanding! With 100 or 150 more mW, no need to focus the beam, I suppose...., I'm dreaming to get one, before or later...

Robot

I watched that video, hes obviously a robot, that's why he doesn't shake. (Or hes using the table as a steady rest).

Hey mike

Hey mike what batteries are you using to power your 8x at 365mA? I was looking to get 350mA out of my flex drive v4 with two cr2's (using a resistor to drop the voltage to 6v when fully charged.

Hey Mister !!!
My Kryton 8x pointer is powered by a single 18650 -- The pocket torch, by a 14500. The V4 drive takes care of me very well !! Some have pushed over 365 mA but I'm now waiting for the price to drop !!! Of course, by then. I'll be drooling on a 10 or 12 X diode :)

haha thanks for sharing that video FrancoRob! That indeed, was very helpful!

ff-racer, I like that focusing adapter you made. :)

I understand that Mike knows what an 8x beam feels like...

is 6x dot hot from say.... 30 ft away?

Thanks!

Do you have a Video of your 105mW Blu-Ray burning paper like FrancoRob's
6X... I'd really like to see that.... :yh:

@ FrancoRob..... WOW... nice 6X burn Video....;)

Meatball:
This morning (in Italy) your request about white plastic sheet "lighted up" my curiosity , so this is a "fresh" movie relevant to the test you asked....
What I can say that my 6x burns white plastic even better, of course I put a 3mm thick aluminium metal plate behind the plastic.....I was not willing to cut my printer too.... he he:tinfoil:

Jerry:
thank you for your appreciation, I hope you'll like also this....:yh:

P.S.: the laser was 4 inches distant from the plastic sheet....

Hey Franco...

[Edited]
again... WOW... that 6X cuts the 3mm (+1/8") thick plastic like butter..
How old are you.... like 20.... You have one steady hand...;)

@cybob101.... seems really easy to me.... and with a 6X... not an 8X
or the "way in the future" nX...
Seems to work just fine the way FrancoRob had done it...

What part of that Video was a "pain is the A$$"...

regards,
Jerry

Wow! That was really amazing! Thats SO much more satisfying to be able to see than on white paper! Thanks for putting that up FrancoRob! I love how the edges of the plastic turned to a burned dark color..

that was a very clean cut! :p

just my 8x back

I just got my 8x Diode back from LarryDFW, he was doing some power testing on it for me because I don't have a meter that will test those powers. I am using one of his high powered lens' with custom brass assembly. I was playing around with white paper and at 350mA (440mW) and this laser burns through white paper instantally without being focused. I turned the current up to 420mA (unknown mW Output) and it was burning through white paper like it didn't exist. Very Glad I got this diode back in perfect working condition. Can't wait till I get my custom host finished.
