Don't start out in the laser hobby going for the highest power you can find. That is irresponsible. Also, saw your thread on CO2 lasers. That is even worse as they are invisible and you can get tubes up to 60 watts fairly cheap. Start out with lower power, and also cheaper, visible lasers. You could get a 532nm DPSS laser in a 303 host for ~$4.00. Or, if you would like it with batteries, a charger and star caps, they are ~$9.50. These typically output 80 mW which in that wavelength is quite visible.

I have read up on all safety material available and all other data I can find. I'm a responsible adult with many firearms, knives and compound bows. Never had one accident. Safety is always number one.

I don't view high powered lasers any more dangerous than a firearm other than the potential eye damage.

I am destructive as most humans are, and will be entertained with a high powered laser of 10 watts when they come out for a laser pointer to burn/destroy stuff.

As for a CO2 laser, this is just another step up in terms of fun.

Just because my needs are different than someone else, doesn't mean that I am irresponsible or childish.

Instead of attacks against a new member, which I see as VERY childish and petty, how about giving some constructive responses?

E.g. Yeah, currently the heat sinking efficient is already maxed with the current 7 Watt laser. A diode for a 10 Watt laser would not fit in a laser pointer with the current technology.

Was that so hard?

Thanks, and no more targeted attacks please. Not in the mood for dealing with children on this site. Have 2 of my own which is a lot of work in terms of patience.

I get that you are a responsible person, and I think it is really awesome that you started with reading the safety information. As other members have said, you must protected your eyes at all time with lasers. It takes microsecond of reflected light to cause permanent damage, where surgery would be required and your vision will never be the same. So keep reading around, buy a quality safety goggles, and stay safe

Take our advice and stay away from those power levels for the time being.
Get accustomed to lower power lasers first. There are experienced members here who take extra precaution when using NUBM44's and CO2's. So bear that in mind.
