This is my first post ever to this forum. My name is Austin and I am new to lasers. I have always wanted to collect and use powerfull lasers. Maybe one day start to build my own as i love custumizing unique things. I am 18 and finally have the time and money to start collecting. A few things about myself before i get to the newb stuff.
I live in new hampshire. My main hobbies are downhill mountain biking/ freestyle mountain biking.
I also love bass fishing. Whether competitive or for fun. I have done both of these my entire life and will be till im dead.
I would consider myself very independent. Considering most activities i do a individual oriented sports.
Im an arguer to the bone. Not in the bad way. My entire purpose is to do and be the best i can be. I question everything and am not afraid to voice my thoughts. Im not profane and am not a dick. Im only hear to learn and make myself better. Part of that is making others better. I love debating. It gets evryone closer to the right answer. Thats what i mean when i say i love to argue. I dont like it when people aren't open for debate. I only want do the right thing. The only way to do that is by knowing the right thing. If you think im wrong please be my teacher and cure my ignorance. Show me the right answer and convince me of it. I will surely not turn it away. Im not afraid to be wrong.

Thats an inside on my personality. Now on to the newbish questions.
Whats the general vibe like on here?
How old are the majority of users?
Does anyone else like my hobbies?
Ive been reading around on here for a couple of days now. I decided to go ahead a make my first laser purchase. I got most of the answers i was looking for here so i decided to join. That said i wanted to get my noob urges out of the way. I bought a jetlasers equality series 445 that does 2000mw. (Please dont jump on me about safety. I originally didnt intend to buy the 50 dollar goggles but after reading 3000000 posts on here attacking people about safety i decided to. Im responsible and dont plan being an idiot. Its nice to see how much people care though). I chose this as my first laser after tons of research and browsing. I wanted to cure my urges of burning things and power right away. 445 seems to be the cheapest power to price ratio.. With that said.. I orderd it yesterday and dont know when to expect it. The general vibe ive seen of jetlasers is fast delivery. Can anyone clarify? Also can anyone out there with the same laser tell me what to expect out of it? Am i getting a blue death ray that burns everything easily? or is it not enough. Just looking to excite myself.
Another noobish question... Do people care about spelling and grammar heavily. I put effort into making this post grammaticly correct and what not. (Lol) i myself just find it easier to type faster and use the txt lingo. Just asking cuz if its not cool i dont wanna constantly get ripped shredded because of grammar. Pet peave of mine when in a discussion and people start attacking you on grammar. Just annoying. It drags the convo down to a stupid place where the topic is lost.

Also i dont want anyone to think i didnt read the stickies and welcome letters. I understand that it said to search!search!search!. I only asked questions in here to reach out and start talking to others.
Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this entire post. Thanks for the welcomes
Also not sure what exactly the tags are used for......... Gonna wing it. Let me know how i do.

GREAT INTRO-- must give your rep a +6 bump for the effort.

BUT you did not put your location into your personal profile -that is important.

will bump your rep IF you add your location..

Ages of members varies a lot-- most of the new members are younger.
But I think the most REAL active members are a tad more mature.

the vibe (IMHO)we hope for here is more like a family forum. especially among the vets (1000+ posts and good rep)--respect breeds respect
we watch each others backs- we help our brothers when there are tough times .

typos happen-
but ATM some vets are not in love with 'textspeak' if U C where I am coming from. watch out for text ' bricks'--make some paragraphs to make reading easier..

we love to see photos and not just lasers any interesting pics will get seen here and we have a few members that continue to blow me away --real artists-
There is a lot of sharing about hobbies- pets- you name it--

about JETLASERS lasers-- great choice- I hosted eight group buys for these- and more than 150 are owned by members--I have help and parts if needed- also may be selling off some of my JL collection to have mo' $$ for laser projectors..

if you have not yet ordered be sure to let 'Gray' at JL know you LPF and take a look at the nylon laser holsters they sell for only $10usd. very nice accessory- well made-

we even have a social group here 'JOG' Jetlasers Owners Group. Some put posts there about buying and selling used JLs. BUt most keep them..

hope you are in texas- we are planning some meets--
its awesome to be around a bunch of people and NOBODY is asking 'why lasers--I don't get it' we ALL 'get' it..

Prolly too late to tell you that lasers are very addictive.. say bye bye to your savings;;lol

Welcome to LPF Shadowbass!

That is a great welcome post, very refreshing to see!
As Hak has already said, and I agree, the J/L Equality is great choice for a 1st laser; you won't go wrong in buying from Jetlasers/Gray! :)
It looks as if you're already aware of the need for safety, so, have fun, and enjoy your stay here.

+Rep

Edit: Yep, anyone can join the Jetlasers owners group!

Welcome! Thank you for being so thorough with your introduction. I feel like I know you already. :p
To me, grammar and even spelling do not matter as long as one uses complete thoughts that convey proper meaning. I agree...let's just stay on topic and help one another.

Wow, this is one of the best introductions I've seen, definitely better than mine. :)

I think most people appreciate good spelling and grammar, but everyone makes mistakes sometimes. And this is an online forum, so everything doesn't have to be perfect, just close:D.

Everybody has something to bring to and I feel you will be no different.
There is a lot of great stuff going on here and not just the rapid development of
the technology.

But the downside of lower cost lasers is the very real fear somebody will cause great harm in a 'prank'.
Most here agree in a more pro active way we deal with this- and that is off -forum
as its hopefully 'preaching to the choir' on LPF to 99%..

---- Ive been at parties and spoke with some fools there with green pointers-
Tried to be nice and they did stop for the better part..

sorry to go off topic
