Xbox One Kinect safe?

I was wondering if it was a safe device as it constantly displays red dots when powered on. Should I cover it just in case or its false alarm and it will cancel the functionality?

Thanks

Its always watching. :P just wrap it in duct tape and submerge it in mineral oil so it cant see anymore. :D

One of the reasons I don't have a kinect. I even have my webcam on my laptop covered with electrical tape.

You can unplug it, it doesn't need to be connected to have the one work. The red dots afaik are for the heat signature and night vision of the sensor.

Yeah, I don't need my Kinect watching my heat signature while I sleep. I turn off the voice commands too, because shouting commands to your game console makes you look like an idiot, even when no one's around.

That kinect kit seems to be sold out everywhere. Amazon doesn't have it and I live in Canada where they don't have ANY next-gen consoles accessories at all yet (lunacy!).

I guess I could keep disconnecting the Kinect, but similar to changing the HDMI cable between consoles when lacking ports, I don't want it to kill the ports.

If it was me I would just chuck the Kinect in the trash. Its not like its useful or even good at the gimmicks it does.

Just add it to the growing list of things Microsoft is doing to bankrupt themselves.
