Hi, this is my first time posting and trying to build my own laser so I'm sorry if this is a really noob question.
First, let me say that I've searched and not found anything on the question I'm about to ask but I did find some other helpful information.
Here's my dilemma, I've harvested the two diodes from the sled of the xbox 360 hd dvd player. one of the diodes had the standard 3 prongs and the other has 4. In the tutorials I've seen, they harvest the one on the right which is the 4 pronged diode. but they never include facts about it. so for my own experiment, I worked on the other one and as one might expect with my knowledge, I fried it because I didn't make a driver for it first :undecided: .
Anyway, can anyone tell me what the 4 pronged configuration is? I have a picture of it here: http://i.imgur.com/LeJRJ.jpg
sorry, there's a little chunk of solder on one of the prongs.
My thought now that I have an upclose look at it is that the bottom lead (solder encrusted) is ground or for the heatsink maybe?
