Ok... so I have no idea where to post this so "general" is where it'll be for now
Anyways... here's the deal. My Xbox 360 stopped working the other day... It's an elite and I got it day 1. The warranty on it is def expired... and since it doesn't have the red ring-o-death... it wouldn't be covered.... Now, I've heard some people send off their xbox and get back a new one (although this usually is due to RROD...) and others get back their old console working... minus getting kicked to crap in the mail. Due to this and not wanting to pay more money than I have to... and since I isolated the issue as the disc drive... I decided to void my *non*warranty and open my xbox and attempt to fix myself. Now, there are several problems with the drive that is in my xbox (Hitachi or LG-Hitachi GDR-3120L) and some are super easy fixes... Well, the magnets holding the actual disc weren't a problem... but it might have had to do with the motor... so I opened up the disc drive itself and cleaned and re lubricated alot of the mechanisms.... now it can start to read a disc and then it just comes back with the original error (unplayable disc). So it looks like I'll just have to replace the drive... not a big problem, but this, in a round about way, to the question at hand....
I can't find ANY stats on the laser ect... just that it's a class 1 (according to the sticker). So... would this diode be worth a damn or no? I'm hoping that someone can help me because i've been researching this in circles for hours and hours over a few days
