Would this be safe to use?

I found a piece of deep blue glass that seems to reduce a green lasers power by over 99%. when I shine my friends alpha 125 through it the dot is much dimmer than a cheap red laser. or if I shine the laser on something else and i look through the glass i can barely make out the dot. would this be safe to use?

Usually the lenses for blocking green are an orangy-amber color. That color would probably block red much better than green. I think since the piece is glass, most of the beam is reflecting off somewhere else, maybe behind you.

I wouldn't use it for protection.

It seems to absorb more than it reflects, the reflection is about half as bright as a radioshack 5mW. so thats about 1.25mW? 4x the power for 2x the brightness? :-?
