Okay, I'm not sure how they make it so the lasers follow the beat, tempo and harmonics of the music. My only guess is the manually animate the scanners before the show and people decide what the laser does. Is it possible too have a computer analyze the music before the show and then animate the lasers to follow the music or has this been done already??

Yes there a function in the spaghetti software. I don:t know much about scanners but that thing exist.
 
It's not done after or before, it's done "live". The software can analyze de music on real time (automatic modes). Obviously, the really great shows are done manually before :)
