What color laser pops baloons the easiest and how much power do you need for each of the following colors?

Infrared
Red
Green
Yellow
Blue

Thanks

Re: What is minimum power to pop?

I THINK that 35-50mw is the required range - although I have yet to have personally seen anything pop balloons under 50mw. This SHOULD be universal throughout the spectrum - it also will depend greatly on the color of your target - black absorbs the most energy, so it'll pop better.

oposite colors burn well too. like a green laser on a red balloon.

Its not just the color laser, its a combo of the color of the balloon and the laser.

Unaided, I can pop black balloons with a 20-25mW CNI black/gold, but that's pushing it. Focused down I popped a black balloon with a 17mW RPL blue (vid somewhere on my review, but I'm too lazy to go look), but this is not typical. I'd say 50mW would be a good start for easy popping with a CNI black/gold or WL Evo greenie on a black balloons.

WL evo? you mean the evolution? has anyone bought that yet? why is it any different than the other lasers?

Yes he means Evolution

can someone explain to me the whole thing of these new wicked lasers? the evolution series comes in all the same power output as their other models, which they still sell, but they are more expensive and look different. whats the deal?

I THINK you hit the nail on the head....they LOOK different. I had seen somewhere that they have better divergence or something like that - maybe someone can correct me ?

They're better up close burners with horrible 1.5mRad Divergence. I'd suggest an Envee over those as it will burn just as good, 1.2mRad, and it's $300 cheaper ;D

Evoluton have beam diameter .8mm and divergance 1.5 mrad
Exective have beam diameter 1.6mm and divergance 0.8-1.0mRad

If you want to burn at close range, get a evoltution, if you want a long range beam, get an executive series. :)

They claim to have better divergance and have a thinner beam like the CNI models, as people moaned like hell because their new wider beamed lasers didn't burn unaided until they used a lens. So the evolution is supposed to be the new kid on the block. :-/

Yes, its a trade off in divergence and diameter.

Proctor, if the WL specs for <1.5mRad are correct, the Envees will be no better. Its good WL has some lasers that can actually burn now, and the divergence, at least by spec, seems no worse than any of the typical high power greenies, but the price will be very hard to justify.

Yeah, I don't know why I put horrible. I put too much of a word in there :P

I'm guessing the Evo's will be 2.0mRad when somebody checks them. Even the executive series has bad divergence. The 15mW I had was the same as the Nexus I had ::)

i didnt know it was even being hyped...

i didnt hear about it till like 2 days ago. 8-)
