Wifi problems

Either my network adapter or my wireless router seems to be acting up. Sometimes, when I resume from standby my internet does not work. It shows it as "connected" but no data will go through. I must reset the adapter or restart my router to make it connect.
Do you know what this problem might be?

Router is a 2 year old airlink 300n ar680W
Network adapter is a 1 week old linksys 300 adapter

try changing the encryption type if you have the connection encrypted to WPA2 - AES .

change the channel to like 9 or 11.
