i wanna build a bright laser, i don't care so much for power for this build and don't have enough money for both diodes, so which would be brighter? thanks in advance.

green 1w4 is more bighter and tiny beam than blue

It is a lot of power, but relative brightness is all that matters here. Since our eyes are most sensitive to 555nm, anything close to that WL will be brighter than another WL far away from it.

Unfortunately, a camera isn't the same as our vision. You cannot compare the two side by side with a camera and expect them to look the same as they do in person. I have known this for many years as I have taken videos of all sorts of laser wavelengths and the camera doesn't "see" them the same way that we do.

Hi T,
520nm still is the brightest to our eyes as Paul stated, this has been discussed here many time in the past. And yes cameras aren't alway the best way to pick up a certain WL. 520nm still on top..Rich:)

Looking at Graphs of wavelength vs perceived sensitivity of the human eye 450nm is about 20-25 % of the brightness compared to 520nm.

That would suggest 1 Watt of 520nm is about the same perceived brightness as 4-5 Watts at 450nm.

But then you would have to compare the light densities. Since the 520nm has a tighter beam than the 450nm that will make the 520 appear even brighter.

I have a sanwu silver 7W 445nm and a sanwu pocket 150mw 525nm and honestly the 525 isn't brighter but it's still very very visible side by side and that's a major difference in power. Like everyone else has said the green or 520nm will be much brighter Watt for Watt.
