Where can I buy acrylic mirrors?

No need to apologize :P

So tomorrow I'm heading of to grandpa, and hopefully I'll return with some nice mirrors ^^ Then it's just pretty much the assembly left :D

If you really want acrylic mirrors, try stationary stores, or places that sell back-to-school type stuff...

They sell "unbreakable" mirrors for use in school lockers, which are made of acrylic (or i dunno, polycarbonate or something).

They cut pretty easily, just score across them with an xacto knife, put the crease over the edge of a desk, and snap it.

It's just that my supply of unused scanners is a bit low for the moment  :-/
Doh...
I feel stupid now. I bought three moving boxes full of computer "trash" from Red Cross.
The purpose was to gut all those CDrom units for linear slides and brushless motors and such.

It's a sad moment everytime you realize that you had but threw away something you need now.
Those boxes also contained 15 dead mini scanners. I even dismantled them all an had ALL the mirros neatly packed in a glass bottle.
Then I threw the glass bottle together with the mirros in the so called Glass Iglo down at the local mini square.
Bummer...

However, I do have a heap of HDD "mirror surface" disks neatly taken out of the host drives.
If someone need one or two, I can gladly share for free. If you pay for stamps of course.

Oh... This would be my first post here.
Hi, I'm Ghostpilot, sometimes known as Tony. From the kingdom of Sweden as some call it.
Now I have finally taken the leap of faith that is going from forum lurker to forum poster.

Yeah, welcome [smiley=beer.gif]

Now we're almost enough swedes here to start a club ;D

Anyway... I'm interested in a hard drive disk or two, and since my attempt to make mirrors out of them was kind of a failure (got round and shiny things, but they were a bit bent in the middle. Guess it was because lack of tools; I had to improvise a bit) I could pay you a little bit if you could make round mirrors out of them.

What do you mean "bent"? How is that possible?

I can help you, but I'm out of material that is scratch free. :(

Well, when I were at my granpa's place I noticed he didn't have a cutting blade for his Dremel, so I had to improvise. I cut the rough contures with a small saw and used a grinding stone to get the round shape. Something must've went wrong as it seems the mirror had been a bit bent. This produces some weird shapes, and a perfect circle when shone right in the middle of the mirror. Maybe I'll dig up another hard drive and try it again today, but with more care.

"PLEASE NOTE I SELL PLASTIC TO THE UK ONLY." :'(

They will ship to the U.S. if you win one of their auctions. You'll just have to keep checking their ebay store.

Yeah, but I'm not in the US either xD But I guess I could try getting them to ship it to Sweden :P

Anyway, I think I figured out why I got the mirrors bad. I tried again with a new hard drive and discovered a thicker disk this time and combined with a slightly different technique I got some pretty good mirrors ^^
