Well im in Thailand and i really want to bring a green laser back to Australia but i cant seen as they are illegal. So im just wondering if there are any high powered (long distance, and good visibility) red lasers that i could buy here? Or online, i would prefer it to be relatively cheap. If i had a red one then i would just be wanting one suitable for shining a pretty good distance. Please let me know, thanks.

P.S Also, please let me know if there is a way i could bring back a green laser, that would be the preffered option. Thanks :)

Don't bother, you will get caught. They know people can get lasers cheaply in Thailand, so they'll be on a very close lookout for them.

You'll be charged with carrying a firearm if you're caught, which is not something you'd probably want to happen.

Can they still class it as a firearm even if its disassembled, so no battery and bottom case. Just the top half of the diode and module?

AFAIK we can get diodes and modules shipped into aus no problems. They only class it as illegal if it comes ready to use with battery etc

its illegal if it is a laser pointer. eg, hand held and over 1mw

They can pretty easily tell if it's part of a pointer, since they still have the same general shape and internal structure, just minus the battery tube. Customs staff aren't stupid ...
