hi,
so i have a lzsk 532nm 100mw. it never seemed very powerful and the other day it 'spluttered' and died. its still pretty new, ive tried to return it but they dont seem to be having any of it.

anyway, im thinking about fixing/upgrading it. will this be easy with the host i have?
is it even worth trying to or just save for a new one.

one reason i thought i could fix it/upgrade is i could perhaps get alot more power for less money spent?

help me out!

I don't really see a way in that you can get more power with less money spent. The diode, if the 100mW rating is real, is about $50+. With that one you will have some past 100mW. You could upgrade to upwards of 300mW, but that diode is around $100, and possibly even 1W for ~$700 if your host actually had the heatsinking capabilities to handle it. Overall, you will not be able to upgrade/fix the laser for less money spent if you already spent $60 for it (if you include the price of a driver too).

Well, I would recommend a 520nm diode build. Unless you want 532nm specifically, the pure diode green is stable and overall more reliable.

Laserbtb and Jetlasers both sell reasonably priced 520nm direct diode lasers. Or you could get the diode and driver combo from DTR, put it in a host and new laser!
