What should you know when buying goggles (glasses)

Hi, how to choose good goggles?

Many sellers tell you only wavelength and price. But is it everything you need to know?

if I buy glasses with correct wavelength (eg. I m gona use green lasers 532 nm, need to buy glasses for lasers 370-560 nm), does the power of my laser matter too?

Does the 532nm filter in every goggles reduce 532nm light beam to 0 mW ? or it does in percents (eg. 532nm goggles A reduces 90%, so if I use 100mW 532nm laser it will be the same while using 10mW laser without goggles)

If it is in percent, where can I get this informations when buying? is it OD value?

o-like.com shows additional informations like:
Permeate of visible light :>55%
Indensity >5 .0(OD +5,OD +6 )
Attenuation:(10- 6<N %>10-4 )

what does it mean? I cannot find what the OD value is.

Which values are important?

optical density link. od3 is reduction of 1000x, so 1W down to 1mW. od2-100x. od1-10x etc

Thanks, now understand OD. Seems that optical density is the most important value and can be shown as #OD or as Transmittance (before log function).


But... Is the OD the same for any wavelength from the wavelengths interval on goggles? (eg. top and bottom Values has lower OD - goggles for 300 to 600 nm has OD=3, means that 450nm light is reduced 1000x, 400nm/500nm light is reduced eg. 100x and 300nm/600nm light is reduced only 1x (is not reduced))

So is it better to buy "goggles only for 532nm" than "goggles for 370 - 600 nm"?

First: The chinese don't get what OD means:
Indensity >5 .0(OD +5,OD +6 )
What is it, OD 5+ or OD 6+?
Attenuation: (10- 6<N %>10-4 )
Calculating back this says the OD is between 4 and 6.

The worst of all: nothing is actually guaranteed, it's just sold as laser safety goggles and that's it. Most will work, some won't and leave you as good as unprotected.
