What makes a laser?

Thankyou for the extra info for me to research on, new direction to look. Appreciate the informative responses.
 





It's nothing personal but posts like that don't contribute. We are discussing fundamental physical principles involved with lasers, not the companies that build them...

Also, most of our pointers, considering the most commonly purchased, would be of the RGBV set, all but one of which are NOT solid state, and even the green can be created with a diode, stop with the bad info.. Most pointers are NOT DPSS
