What is wrong with my laser?

Hard to tell from the picture really, could be dirt, could be unfocussed, or perhaps mode hopping. If it's modehopping you should see 2 or more brighter areas within the dot, but th picture is too highly exposed to see any detail.

hu mine does sort of the same thing it goes from a perfect round dot to a semi oval one and it just started to do this but its not enoug to call it mode hopping

I would think it is the diode going bad, it is not lasing then, maybe it is turning into a high priced LED.

My alpha 125 went haywire and it has a big oddly shaped dot now. This picture (which didnt come out as well as I would have liked) shows its dot next to a properly functioning dot from an X-125. What do you think this is?

It looks like the lens is dirty to me. It's hard to tell.

Please resize your picture so we don't have to scroll it. 800X600 would be much better...thanks.. ;)

If you have a photobucket account and upload it there, it will automatically re size it to the max resolution of 800x600.

I'll show you, cause you're lucky I am so nice! ;)

Have you closely inspected the lens for dirt/oils/smudges/scratches? If you can't find anything wrong with the lens then your laser probably had it's internal optics shift out of place.

That kinda looks like what my busted X105 puts out now (after being destroyed by my mom and sister), if it is the same problem I would guess it is an optics problem of some sort.

Looks like photochromic damage to the KTP to me. Been running it for long periods at a crack?

That definately is not TEM mode hopping.

I don't think so, I am pretty strict about the duty cycle.

looks like a fingerprint on the lens, though i doubt you could get a fingerprint on it :P, maybe its just dirty
