hello everyone, recently i bought a 445nm 120mw module from ebay,it is a single mode so first thing that came to my mind was that it uses an Osram PLT5 diode and also was the reason i bought it.
when i recieved it and powered it was definetly a nice singe mode beam and the output was true 120mw.it had a plastic glued lens that when i took off i saw that the diode is a 3.8mm diode and not 5.6mm as the plt5's are
after that i tried to unscrew the back half of the module and manage to break both pins of the diode by twisting them :banghead:
after that i ready to thow the damn thing i thought to try my soldering skills, first i bridged the + with the can of the diode(the easy part) and then i was keep trying to solder the other pin,it took me alot of atempts and after half an hour i managed to solder it and secure it with hot glue.
now its fully working again but im wondering what single mode diodes on 3.8mm cans are available? somewhere i think i read that there was a plt5 revision the was in 3.8mm package but i cant remember well and i cant find it.
