I'm just a geek about out of college with a Math degree. I have more theoretical experience with most things than practical and I'm looking to up my practical knowledge because it's no fun being able to design something without being able to build it. I should have taken the last two classes I needed for my minor in physics (now THAT is fun). So I have a little soldering experience (high school electronics but it gets you there) a circuits class (I didn't take the lab) and a little bit of programming experience (can you say computer controlled laser projects .

This is a great place to learn about DIY lasers. There is a wealth of information to be found here if you are willing to look for it.
Of course, if you really get stuck and can not find what you need, someone will usually point you in the right direction... but do yourself a favor and be sure to do your homework first.
