I always thought 532nm was green, guess i'm wrong. ::)  ;)
Indeed...

like the term 14500, which was once and still is an ANSI code for a cylindrical lithium thats 14mm wide, 50mm long...but there are 14500s out there that are no where near 14500, more like 14550 since they failed to compensate the battery length for the overcharge/overdischarge protection PCB that was added during cell fabrication after the cell is produced.

"14500" became a name rather than a description

I think to some vendors out there, "532nm" is becoming a market term that represents "popular search term" and therefore is used in the title to increase view frequency...and ignoring the fact that 532nm is a technical representation in describing the wavelength of the light and therefore dictates the appropriate color of the laser in the visible spectrum ranging from 400-700nm

When I see "532nm" with "red laser" on any given title...I'm inclined to believe whoever made it only went through marketing school and perhaps failed physics at one point. :-?

This happens a lot, I'm guessing it's just that they copied and pasted the description of a green laser, modified it to say red, though didn't know what "wavelength" means in this context.

Red can be 532nm. Just lase a 650nm red laser through a medium with a refractive index of 1.2218, and you've done it. You have 532nm red light (only inside that medium)!!!

If you want an explanation, just tell me.

I wonder if it comes with a free piece of glass to make the marketed 532 come true ;p

i was falldown.....in the FP forum.... that asked if the laser is green or red ahahaa
