The bottom line: better to get more for your money if you can.
Agreed, However, I care more about longevity. Most of the arrays I build run each 445nm diode around 750mW. I'd rather have a product that will run cool and stable for years versus max output for hours.
Lightshow projectors have a very different duty cycle compared to a pointer. Output stability and longevity are most important to me versus brute force optical output.
If I could get 750mW stable output for years on a single diode, I'm happy.
