Today I was going through Virginia Tech's surplus auction list (auction to be held this Saturday, May 7) and I found three items of interest:

600 1 388 1- LOT SPECTRA-PHYSICS DYE LASER AND LASER
671 1 387 1- LOT COHERENT LASER & POWER SUPPLY AND BOX OF CABLES
672 1 387 1- SPECTRA PHYSICS 12SA LASER

I'm pretty sure the "12SA" is really a 125A HeNe.

Now, I'm a college student (at Virginia Tech), and the likelihood of me being able to afford these at auction is pretty minimal (maybe... we'll see). However, I really want to see these go into the hands of someone who's going to appreciate them.

So, if you live within a couple hours of Blackburg (or know someone who does), want to be treated to some awesome Virginia Tech food, want what may or may not be up for auction, please get me any relevant contact info!

I'd hate to see this old, awesome equipment go to a redneck.

On Thursday, I'll take a camera to the auction preview and get photos of the lots.

Thanks for the heads up. I wish I lived near by, seems most of these great lab deals like this one are out west...Arizona, California, etc.
You might be surprised on the price though. Could get these lasers for a song and dance, worth bringing a couple hundred dollars to if you can scratch it together....you might just score!

Can't blame people for trying to make a buck.. but to me.. Untested (I.E... broken) lasers on ebay are worth roughly their value as scrap. Which on some of these, could still be a couple hundred. But nowhere near what they're asking.
