You will not get sufficient power for your module unless you do so. If you are asking what components in the circuitry are responsible for this I cannot tell you. All I know is what works and what doesn't.

I would ask next, if you don't mind...how did you find that lead, trial and error or
did you us a DVM and source a high volt. reading?.

I feel anybody who puts this much effort into something like this deseves as much.:)

So...I guess the answer is no. :cryyy:

Sorry tech, I don't have anymore regular ones, just this violet one. You can pick them up for around $15 from various websites though. I think maybe a couple sellers on ebay too.

Well initially I tried using the lead that was already there but that didn't work and I was pissed....so I tried the direct connection to the circuit board fromn the batteries. That of course worked but then the power wasn't going to the button. I tried the next closest contact point that was above the button area and that worked. So yes trial and error. I also have a red one just running right off of the new lead without any other driver and it has been working great for a while now.
