Using a cheapo 1mW pointer and putting in a dvd rewriter diode, can it be done?

hi, new to all this and i was just wondering if i could buy a cheap 1mW or 5mW or something like that and put in a dvd rewriter diode, will it burn stuff eg matches and not break quickly.

Your question is common, and no, you can't just put a diode where ever you want.

simply no, the driver won't provide anywhere near enough current to power the laser
