Hello, today I want to tell you about my 638nm laser build. The diode I used is USHIO HL63643DG. Host-Convoy S3. For this build I used a 350mA driver (1x AMC7135). The output power should be around 300mW. Optics-G2 single element glass lens. The divergence of this laser is very cool, because this diode is single-mode. From distance of 5m, the dot size is about 5mm. This laser is very bright in daylight, the same as my 505-510nm ~150mW. But the beam is not very visible without fog, since the red light is almost not scattered in the air. 969E3B69-2D06-4A04-9483-1EF389E14515.jpegAA8D8D8E-DA53-45E7-93C4-7DE764C6ECCD.jpeg9339413F-8316-4A35-858A-FF3EC69C60C1.jpeg6D88BEBA-4ED1-41E3-B644-36749D021E2B.jpeg505E6829-F659-4E3D-8712-0EE796289DF0.jpegDot size from 5m4A54AC27-F35A-4C75-892C-FB9C4681D86C.jpeg505nm & 638nmFF25CAA5-A6F1-41A5-9E92-277A6E26A772.jpegA45B8D4B-99ED-4C7A-ABE2-5C9A17A3DE69.jpeg

Nice! Looks great.
For red diodes, I prefer longer focal length lenses, like the G-8. The longer focal length gives better divergence and reduces the line artifact. You will likely need to modify the lens placement in the lens nut in order for it to work well with the standard 12 mm modules.

Nice red build, enjoy and remember to lase safely.
