Just got the alternate version if this host that you were talking about, I have 4 of them, and I can't get the front end of any of them to unscrew. Did you have a similar issue? Or am I doing something wrong?
 





Hey, quick question. I just got 4 of the alternate versions of this host that you were talking about, all identical, everything looks right, but I can't get the front end to come off of any of them. Did you encounter this problem? Or am I doing something wrong?

Hello, im a new guy at laserpointerforums, and i want to build this laser without buying the lpc diode. I have a NEC ND-3520a DVD burner. Is it powerful enough to run on the stock driver with the flashlight? And if it is, how much mW is it about? If it wouldn't work with the stock driver, would it work good with groove v2? Anyways my set: DX flashlight, 3$ DX host, 10440 battery.

Hey man welcome to the forum!
If that diode can handle 330ma, it'll work perfect :) Usually 20x-24x speed burners work. A groove2 will not fit in this build. Oh and when testing you diode make sure to use a current regulator!
This set up should give about 200mW I believe. Maybe a little less depending on your diode.

*Edit* your diode is a 16x diode. That probably isn't the best choice for this build :/ I suggest buying the LpC-826 or 815

You can always buy a battery from DX (dealextreme).Driver for laser that are about 200mW-500mW the best choise is a groove v2 driver, but its quite expensive, you can always buy a rckstar driver. Just search at google for teh drivers :)

Your diode is a Closed Can diode, from a 16x DVD burner, it can handle upto 400mA just fine. I would suggest you run it at 350mA because i am not sure if it is the same diode from all the 16x dvd burners.. It will definitely work perfectly fine at that current with a long life.. Output will be almost 200mW..
If you don't plan to buy a $7 LPC diode let me tell you what you will be missing.. the LPC-815 will be brighter and it can handle upto 500mA just fine, Im also running one at 600mA and it outputs about 50% more red at that current!

I have the one's from O-Like and they work really great. I'd go with a known brand (such as O-Like's) for it. Buy quality... the momentary sting from the price will be infinitely better from the sting of never seeing again.
 
My diode has a rectangular beam same as the blue lasers.Will it be rectangular when focused?

*EDIT*- Ok FU*K EVERYTHING!!! Finally after i spent 24 dollars, i ordered everything...Now waiting for arival!! :eg:
