Typical dvd player laser diode ratings?

Hi all

I have dissasembled an old dvd player and removed the laser diode. Just wonder whats the typical input ratings of a red laser? I was running it at 3v at 0.08A from my benchtop power supply, too scared to increase current or voltage?

Wow, 80mA? Boy, that seems like a lot to me for just a reader diode, but I guess maybe not...
