Those have a momentary 'on' button switch. So your on time is usually limited just because of not wanting to hold it on for very long.

But with the 803T diodes, I think you are pretty safe at a conservative current. Like between 100mA's and say 125mA's or so.

No.  Skylasers 55mw green laser pen...Not the other one.  No heatsinks at all.  They said 100 on, 30 off duty cycles.   This is the wrong place to ask, but you make heat sinks so...Just wanted to quickly ask a fellow heatsink maker, Can adding a thick metal ring around the laser end of a 55mw green laser pen, help cool it down? Like if I was able to find a 2 inch tall metal tube that fits around the pen, that's idk around 0.5cm thick or less, if that will cool it more.

One would assume that more heatsinking is only better. But 532nm lasers are much more complex than these DVD builds that we are building...

I have read about proper alignment of the crystals, possible over saturation of the crystals from over driving, as well as heat issues... are all things that can make the difference between a cheap laser vs a well built greenie.

I'm afraid that I don't know enough about them to give a better answer, but perhaps someone else could chime in here. Ask your question in the 'green lasers' section and you will probably get more feedback...

yea my knock off is exactly that, lol, a knock off, 4.99 at Spencer's Gifts, mine only has 5 LEDs though lol

Well darn it!

I ordered 5 Viclights from physlink.com and got the same ones as Silent_Dawn.

Ah well I'll mess with one and if I don't like it I've got 4 stocking stuffers.

Has anyone been able to source them just like Jay's instead of just like Silent_Dawn's?

My goal is to get the press-fit end cap off, then see if i can cut some threads on the two parts. I don't have a lathe yet, but as of yesterday I've made a contact who does.

Hopefully in the Spring I'll be able to 'spring' for something like a Grizzly 7x14!

You might check with Silent_ Dawn, he found a way to fit the host back together. He said my heatsinks worked. I don't know how hard it was to take apart and put back. But he may be willing to share how he did it...

No need to cut threads - I figured out how to take the press-fit Viclights apart and put them back together satisfactorily.

Jay your heatsinks fit perfectly, thank you.

Now I just need my Flexdrives and my sleds & I'm all set.

My plastic piece that holds the switch got destroyed as I took it out of the flashlight, but I had the crappy kind of host that Silent_Dawn had. I was wondering if this plastic piece was necessary to hold the switch in, or if you just tossed yours. You didn't specify what you did for your build jayrob. Now I just have to try to seperate the head from the body of the flashlight.

Mine was different since the head unscrewed from the body...

Yes, I used the plastic piece to hold the switch just like the stock light did. You might check with Silent_Dawn about how he did his mod.

hello all..

i have quick and silly question on this build.. i think i know why i just wanted to make sure.. why are you grounding the driver to the case on this build? is it because it has a side clicky instead of of bottom clicky? i am still pretty new to this, but have learned enough to do a couple builds myself.. i do not which i love better the actual building, or seeing them work.. thank all you guys who put up all these pics of your builds.. i have learned everything about lasers from you guys!!

This host is no longer available, but in answer to your question...

I always try to get the negative feed to the driver from the host or pill when ever possible.

And if not possible, then I will get it from the diode case pin if available. Or course, that too, is still using the host path to battery negative...
