TTL laser diode driver






Nice link, very informative thread. really would like to get a few of those LASORB when
available. wish they were surface mount or tied in with the laser diode can. that would be sweet!

I do need a couple more for another build so it looks like i am doing this one again.

i also contacted aixiz and they might have a couple longer enclosures so can fit my wires in there i hope. this will be nice especially when i put the enclosed driver within the tec block :) all powered with a single 5v source. just not sure how good the modulation will be since i haven't heard from them.

i would also like to change power supply to a laptop type wall charger so i can make my projector really small.

I think your right on the LM358N chip cause when i passed the high resistor it measured 1.2 amps output. and everything else looks similar. Now i just need to insure my power supply has a soft start.

I have all the components for the stam_ham driver on my desk ATM. Total cost of components was a little over £5.

I'll make a start on it tonight maybe.

Hopefully getting a new case for my projector too ! The one I have is big enough to fit in a full two level 1W RGB, and still have space. Shrinking down to a dell Optiplex 260/70/80 :)

I'll do some work on that driver and get back to you guys !

i would like to use the same 24v out from the scanner amp and wired to my variable voltage regulator:

if that works we could integrate a new pcb design all built in with a few bells and whistles.

just not sure on how much current this driver requires.

Yeah I'll be using the BD437 , I've got it mostly wired up now, just a few things to finish which I'll do later , and then hope that I've done it all right ! :D

If I get this one working I'm going to etch a few boards and then build them into that and see how it goes. And then maybe build a 400mW red setup for my scanner to go with my green 100mW.

I don't know the limits of the stan_ham board. But I do know that you may not be able to power it off of your scanner PSU. Mines is 30V voltage differential at 800mA, so it's not good for powering much other than the scanner amps and DMX board due to current restrictions.
