Hehe... i'm quite sure you can trim hair with a DVD writer laser just fine.. try burning one off your arm if you must find out for yourself.

The thing that deters me from using in on the inside of my nose is the smell of burning hair though

but unless you had a really hairy nose, or quite a wide beam, I would think it would be hard to hit each hair.
