I'm sure you all know about LED throwies. If not, http://graffitiresearchlab.com/?page_id=6#video should enlighten you. (pun not intended but in hindsight rather amusing)

-- side note: hey I just noticed, the GRL won the $15,000 40 watt versalaser cutter off instructables with their diy bullet time rig! not bad.

I don't know the average price of a throwie (at quantity over 50) is in the US. But here in Aus the best I've been able to price them is about $0.70 each. So for this reason I'm not gonna rush into this but rather am asking first.

I found myself sources to build 400 at $0.44 each. (or within a few $0.0001)
So I'm asking is this a decent price? If so is there enough interest to get 400 of them sold? (ignoring shipping for time being)

Hmm, so what would it cost me? $0.44?? If so I would take some, that would be cool to do to downtown chicago.

the magnets are whats expensive, dealextreme recently got big enough ones in. but good luck receiving them, they rip through the envelopes.

C'mon guys... I don't mean to offend anyone here but just in my opinion, this is is very eco-unfriendly activity because there are many 'single use' batteries being used. Also, aren't neodymium magnets expensive? I've got some ripped outta used hard drives and they are super strong but I've always thought they cost a lot.

I must admit it looks cool on that wall though :)

Tell me about eco-unfriendly, I just read your post and poured 5 quarts of used oil down the drain, in spite of your post.

I whould rather not thow away my leds/ndfeb/batteries  :'(

I don't know why the heck you all keep talking about the magnets. The throwie is already made. Blu says he can get them made for $0.44. I would by a couple even if they costed 1 buck each. ;D

I always wanted to make some led throwies, but it never happened...
I think I saw a smart schematic on "Make" that turns them off at day so the batteriers last allot longer.

Ok bluefusion, i'm in the group buy if you come up with some prices.

Are the magnets you picked powerful enough to stick at the speed they are thrown? I would rather pay a little extra to get quality throwies

EDIT: here are what prices for throwie packs without magnets usually go for

if you can get them for .44 each, and there's no assembly required, i'm down for 100.
