this voltage safe for my sony 16x?

hooked my meter up to my host that has rckstr 250ma driver on it and it shows 5.2v output and 250ma. is this safe for my sony 16x red diode?

I think you can safely take the diode up to around 300 mA as long as you use a good heatsink and cycle it on/off every minute or so.  The long open can diodes can take around 400 mA's
