Hey all,

I've noticed that there are quite a few of these third gen "Rigel" 594nm pens hitting the forum lately, but no real word on their reliability. I remember a few years ago when these were first being rumored, the thought was that the process had been improved ad they'd be more reliable the the earlier versions. However, there's been no real reports as to the truth of these claims.

What is yalls thoughts on this? Do they seem better or about the same? I'm seriously considering one, I need 594 back in my life. lol

I'm bumping this because I would like to know the answer to this question as well! (and the post isn't a mummy yet)

They're still pretty unstable if that's what you're asking. At least mine is. The output varies wildly from <.5mw to 2-3mw peak.

I've got an older generation Rigel, and it seems to be a rather stable unit once warmed up. It's quite stable at 3-4, though once it got to 8mW.

The newer units may actually be less stable than the old generation. Apparently the heatsinking is not as good either.

Thanks for the feedback boys. DL isn't willing to sell a 594 anymore anyway, so GLP-589 it is!
